Overview

Enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience by taking a full-day tour of Cairo after landing at El Ciro airport. Discover the land of the pharaohs with Cairo Top Tours.

Funerary architecture experienced a paradigm shift with Imhotep, minister of Pharaoh Djoser during the Third Dynasty, who designed the Step Pyramid of Saqqara, the first known pyramid in history. Then King Sneferu, founder of the Fourth Dynasty, made two attempts to develop the shape of the pyramid into a complete pyramid. However, the two attempts at Dahshur resulted in two imperfect pyramids: one with a flattened base and the other with a smaller shape, about half the size of the first.

During the reign of King Khufu, the engineer Humenu was able to achieve the perfect pyramid shape by building the Pyramid of Khufu at Giza on an area of 13 acres. This was followed by the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, completing the famous pyramid complex of Giza.

Your tour begins with an unforgettable visit to Dahshur, which contains an ancient Egyptian royal tomb and several pyramids built between 2613 and 2589 BC. The first pyramid of Dahshur was constructed during the reign of King Sneferu, in which he attempted to create a smooth-sided pyramid, but due to some mistakes in the cutting of the stones and the softness of the ground on which it was built, the pyramid buckled. So Sneferu ordered the construction of the second pyramid of Dahshur, the Red Pyramid, with a height of 104 meters and a slant angle of 43 degrees. This pyramid is known as the “Red Pyramid” because of the use of red limestone in its construction, and King Sneferu is believed to be buried in it.

After that, we start another adventure to the area of the Giza necropolis, where you will have the opportunity to see the Pyramids of Giza complex, which consists of the Great Pyramid, also known as the Pyramid of Cheops, built around 2580-2560 BC, the smaller Pyramid of Khafre, located a few hundred meters to the southwest, and the relatively modest-sized Pyramid of Menkaure, also located a few hundred meters to the southwest. The Great Sphinx is located on the eastern side of the complex, and Egyptologists unanimously believe that the head of the Sphinx represents the head of King Khafre.

Then we headed to Saqqara, which contains ancient Egyptian royal tombs of the dynasties that ruled ancient Egypt from the capital city of Minaf. It also contains several pyramids, including the Step Pyramid of Djoser, which dates back to the era of the Third Dynasty and is the oldest complete stone structure known historically, in addition to many archaeological mastabas.

Finally, we accompany you to Cairo Airport for your final flight, leaving you with unforgettable memories.

Itinerary

Once you arrive at the airport, one of our representatives with an expert guide will be waiting for you to accompany you on one of Cairo's impressive excursions. A full-day tour is enough to explore the highlights of Cairo.

Our journey started with an amazing trip to Saqqara, which is home to the royal tombs of the dynasties that controlled ancient Egypt from Minaf, the capital. In addition, there are many archaeological mastabas and a number of pyramids, including the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the oldest known complete stone building from the Third Dynasty onward.

We next go with an amazing tour to Dahshur, which includes a royal tomb from ancient Egypt and a number of pyramids constructed between 2613 and 2589 BC. During the reign of King Sneferu, the first pyramid of Dahshur was built. He attempted to make it smooth-sided, but the soft land upon which it was built and certain errors in stone cutting caused the pyramid to sag. Thus, Sneferu gave the order to build the Red Pyramid, the second pyramid of Dahshur, which would be 104 meters high and 43 degrees inclined. Because red limestone was used in its construction, this pyramid is known as the "Red Pyramid," and it is said that King It has Sneferu's grave.

We then continue to the Giza necropolis area, where you will have the chance to see the Giza Pyramids complex, which includes the Great Pyramid, also called the Pyramid of Cheops, which was constructed between 2580 and 2560 BC, the smaller Pyramid of Khafre, which is a few hundred meters to the southwest, and the relatively small Pyramid of Menkaure, which is also a few hundred meters to the southwest. The Great Sphinx is situated on the eastern side of the complex, and Egyptologists agree that the Sphinx's head symbolizes King Khafre's head.

Finally, we will conclude our tour with a visit to the city of Memphis, which is considered one of the major capitals of ancient Egypt. It was associated with the establishment of unity between the Nile Delta and Upper Egypt during the time of King Mina and remained the capital of Egypt during the Old Kingdom and the administrative and military capital during the time of the New Kingdom.

The idol of Memphis was the god Ptah, and his huge tomb stretched from Abu Rawash in the north to Lasht in the south and possesses the most magnificent examples of Egyptian architecture and arts without dispute.

After a full day of adventures, we will accompany you to Cairo Airport for your final departure.
