The sound and light project opened in 1961 during the era of the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, and the idea of these shows goes back to Dr. Tharwat Okasha, Egypt's first minister of culture, and in a special book for the project entitled “Temples were lit and the kings of the pharaohs spoke,” written by Abdel Tawab Youssef, which was issued on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first show coming out of the light.
The sound and light show takes place at night, with lasers shining on the Great Pyramid, allowing viewers to see only the Great Pyramid during the darkness that envelops the place, and then the laser is shone on the second, third, and then the Sphinx.
In the pyramids, the viewer sits directly and without barriers in front of the pyramids, one of the seven wonders of the world, as well as the Sphinx.
