Sound and Light Show at Giza Pyramids from Airport

Overview

Sound and Light Show in Giza Pyramid from the Airport

Experience the sound and light show at the Pyramids of Giza to see what life and religion were like thousands of years ago in Egypt. In the show, you will see the pyramids illuminated with a spectacular audio-visual display. The show features the Sphinx, guardian of the Giza Tomb for thousands of years, as the narrator of Egypt's history.

The sound and light Show is considered one of the most important projects that shed light on the ancient Egyptian civilization. The sound and light project opened in 1961 during the era of the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, and the idea of these shows goes back to Dr. Tharwat Okasha, Egypt's first minister of culture, and in a special book for the project entitled “Temples were lit and the kings of the pharaohs spoke,” written by Abdel Tawab Youssef, which was issued on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first show coming out of the light.

The sound and light show takes place at night, with lasers shining on the Great Pyramid, allowing viewers to see only the Great Pyramid during the darkness that envelops the place, and then the laser is shone on the second, third, and then the Sphinx.

In the pyramids, the viewer sits directly and without barriers in front of the pyramids, one of the seven wonders of the world, as well as the Sphinx. The show, which entertained many people, lasted about 50 minutes, in which people saw and heard the history of the construction of the three pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, how the huge stones were transported to build those pyramids, the sun boats and their purpose, and other small pyramids built in Egypt later, and the history of the Sphinx, why his nose was broken and why his body was shaped like a human head and the rest of his body was shaped like a lion.

Since the construction of the pyramids was only 15 minutes long, the presenters managed to extend the show to 50 minutes through sound and light talk about what followed the construction of the pyramids and the Sphinx, including the visits of the pharaohs from the following dynasties of the ancient state during which the pyramids were built: Amenhotep III, Amenhotep IV (Akhenaten), Tutankhamun, grandson of Amenhotep III, Thutmose III, and so on to the area of the pyramids.

The Sound and Light Show in the area of the Giza Pyramids is considered one of the most impressive excursions you can do during your transit tour.

The light and sound are one of the most significant initiatives that illuminate the ancient Egyptian culture. The concept for these shows dates back to Dr. Tharwat Okasha, Egypt's first minister of culture, and a special book for the project called "Temples were lit and the kings of the pharaohs spoke," written by Abdel Tawab Youssef, which was published on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first show coming out of the light. The sound and light project opened in 1961, during the administration of the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser.

During the nighttime sound and light performance, lasers shine on the Great Pyramid, allowing spectators to see only the pyramid in the darkness. The lasers then shine on the Sphinx, the second, and the third pyramids.

One of the seven wonders of the world, the pyramids, and the Sphinx are directly and unobstructed in front of the observer. The show, which lasted roughly fifty minutes and amused a large number of people, told the story of how the three pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure were built, how the massive stones were made, the function of sun boats, and other smaller pyramids that were later built in Egypt. It also explained the history of the Sphinx, including why its nose was broken and why its body was shaped like a human head while the rest of its body was shaped like a lion.

Finally, you will be transferred back to Cairo International Airport.
