Full Day Tour to East Banks and Luxor Museum

Overview

A trip to Luxor is different. A visitor might consider it a unique archaeological site or an open-air museum housing some of the world's most famous antiquities. At the same time, however, it is difficult to reduce it to the touristic character for which many other global cities are famous. Luxor is a city that encompasses many aspects of ordinary daily life typical of Upper Egypt, with popular markets and diverse traditional industries and crafts. Luxor has become like a mosaic that combines ancient Pharaonic character with aspects of modern life. Its historic buildings, built on the eastern and western banks of the Nile, have become like a living organism, blending with the other elements surrounding it.

When you look at the faces of the people of Luxor, you realize this very well. They treat its antiquities as they treat each other. There is a relationship of friendliness, comfort, and "mutual respect," as if a sense of contentment has pervaded everyone. Therefore, anyone who visits Luxor feels neither alienated nor bored, and they are not permanently restricted by their visit schedule as a tourist. The city offers a sense of "openness," making them feel as if they are stepping into ancient times while standing still, smartphone in hand, recording every moment.

For all these reasons, enjoy a tour with us to the East Bank in Luxor.

Itinerary

We will transport you to Luxor Temple after dropping you off at your lodging, where your guide will provide you with information on the Opet Festival and other activities.   Detailed illustrations of the festival's stages may be found on the walls of the temple's vast colonnade.

It served as a processional route. The sculptures of Amenhotep III were replaced with sphinxes with the king's heads under the rule of Nectanebo I, the founder of the Thirtieth Dynasty.

Then you will be going to Karnak. The temples of Karnak are organized into three clusters toward a series of surrounding walls: the middle with the temple of Amun-Re set crosswise to the Nile and so an east-west orientation; to the north goes the domain of Montu also set on a south-north axis. In the southwest corner of the middle area, there was a temple for Khonsu, son of the God.

The walls of the hypostyle hall are decorated with different themes, such as:

  • scenes of different offerings made by the king to the Theban triad.
  • scenes representing the divine boats of the Theban triad in front of their chapels
  • The scene depicts the išd tree, a sacred tree that stood in the temple of Re at Heliopolis. The name of each legitimate king had been inscribed on the leaves of this tree by the god Thoth. King Seti I is seen kneeling before the god Thoth under the tree.
  • Scene of the daily temple ritual.
  • Scene of the king's purification in the presence of two queens.
  • Coronation scene.
  • The scene depicts King Ramses II before the Ennead of Karnak (15 gods): these are the 15 most important in Egypt and especially in Thebes.

At the end of our journey, you will be driven to the Luxor Museum for lunch.   In 1984, the Luxor Museum had its first and biggest expansion when it replaced its previous exhibition with an inside one.  The museum's second enlargement was completed in 2004 with the creation of the "Glory of Thebes" hall, which included a second collection of extremely prestigious items, including as those belonging to the warrior king Horemheb and his wife Mutnedjmet. Lastly, you will be driven to the airport or your hotel.
