Itinerary
Our tours start early in the morning. You will be picked up from Cairo International Airport and transferred to your first destination of the day, the Saladin Citadel. The construction of Saladin Citadel took place in 1176 AD, or 572 AH. Although he started the building, Saladin never finished it. When the fortress was completed, Sultan Al-Kamil bin Al-Adil was the first to occupy it and use it as a royal residence.
From the Ayyubid period to the end of the Muhammad Ali dynasty, historical events did not spare the Citadel of Saladin. The renowned Citadel Massacre occurred there, and several sultans were crowned. From there, armies set out to liberate the Levant from the Crusaders, and to conquer Cyprus and other places. The Citadel contains rare treasures and artifacts, and many secrets within the Citadel have not been revealed yet.
The Construction of the Saladin Citadel commenced in 1176 AD (or 572 AH), although it never saw completion under its namesake Saladin. Sultan Al-Kamil bin Al-Adil was the first to take over and make the Citadel his royal palace while it was being repaired. The last king to stay at the Citadel for an extended period of time was Ismail the Khedive, who soon afterward relocated to Abdeen Palace.

The Hanging Church will be your final destination before you are driven to the airport. It is situated above the Babylonian Citadel's southern entrance in the Old Cairo neighborhood.
