Itinerary
Your driver will be waiting outside your hotel at approximately seven a.m. to transport you and your guide to Minya. Upon arrival, we will visit the Tuna al-Jabal area. There is a burial cemetery for the god Thoth, extending a long distance underground. It was dedicated to the burial of the god Thoth (the monkey and ibis), the god of wisdom and knowledge. A museum was established in one of the catacombs, housing some of the artifacts found in these extensive catacombs, including mummified baboons and a mummified ibis.
During the Roman era, the waterwheel was invented. It was constructed out of solid red brick in order to purify the monkey, also known as the ibis, a revered bird. It is around 200 feet deep and has stairs that lead down.
