Day Tour to Memphis and Dahshur Pyramids from Aswan

Overview

Memphis and Dahshur Pyramids from Aswan

Take a flight to get the best pictures of comfort and elegance from Aswan to Memphis and Dahshur.  Memphis was known as the "White Wall" until the 26th century BC, when the Egyptians called it "Men Nefer", a name that the Greeks corrupted to become "Memphis".

Experience the history of Egyptian architectural evolution by traveling to Dahshur.  Its breathtaking natural beauty and seasonal pond with papyrus plants draw visitors and migrating birds despite its historical importance.  The World Tourism Organization has ranked Dahshur as the ninth most beautiful tourist hamlet in the world and a popular destination for rural tourism because of its natural and cultural treasures.

Enjoy learning about the kings of the Sixth Dynasty. They erected their pyramids and established their capitals at the closest point to the White Wall. The name of the pyramid of Pepi I gave the suburb surrounding it its nickname, "Men Nefer." This city was the site of Egypt's arsenal, where military equipment was manufactured, and warships were armed and supplied. It was also the main distribution and commercial center in Egypt.

Itinerary

At Cairo Airport, you will be greeted.  You'll travel to Memphis and take in the outdoor museum there.  A massive statue of Ramses II from the 19th Dynasty, standing 10 meters tall from the top and weighing over 100 tons, is on display in the museum.  Alabaster stone is what sets the Sphinx apart.  The Temple of Ptah also requires reconstruction or the raising of its strewn-about stones to the ground.

Memphis is a vibrant metropolis that has been significant throughout its lengthy history.  With some 30,000 people living there at the time, it was regarded as the biggest human colony in the world.  But now the city is empty and desolate.

You will visit the North Pyramid of Dahshur:

It is the oldest known tomb of its true geometric shape. Its slope is 43°36. The entrance is located, as usual, on the north face. It provides access to a descending corridor that crosses the masonry core. It leads to three adjoining bedrooms. The first two chambers are almost identical in shape and size: 9.30 x 3.50m with a high corbelled vault. 7.5m from the south wall of the middle chamber, a corridor leads to the third chamber of 9.30m x 4m, its corbelled vault rising 15m.
