Meaning of the name: the origin of the name El Gouna is Arabic, and El Gouna is a scion (piece) of skin in the form of a circle in which the perfumer preserves the good of the fragrance, and the name was mentioned by the prophet of Islam Muhammad in Hadiths and said that the meaning of El Gouna is “mesmerizing like pieces of the night”. The name El Gouna is also called for the white thing and the light that emits from the pure shiny thing, and the sun is said to be El Gouna, that is, white with a brilliant Ray, and the moon is said to be the tip of the bow, and it is also said that the ship docked in El Gouna, that is, in the Bay, and perhaps this meaning applies to it because it is a small bay.

El Gouna is characterized by being a site for diving at depths and various water sports, and the resort has two main beaches, namely the beach "Zeitouna Beach" and the beach "mangrove beach", and the resort is interspersed with a large number of water channels, which makes each house, villa or chalet in the resort its own beach, and most of these water channels were built on small stone bridges to facilitate movement.
There are 6 neighborhoods in El Gouna, namely "Marina Town", "Mediterranean Neighborhood", "golf neighborhood", "Nubian Neighborhood", "Hadba Neighborhood" and"Italian Neighborhood".
