Your day begins with one of the visits that you can not leave during your stay in Cairo, which is the archaeological area of Saqqara, which is part of the necropolis of Manaf and includes a large number of monuments of ancient Egypt, including the step pyramid of King Djoser, the oldest monumental stone structure in history, from the Third Dynasty; the pyramids of several kings of the Fifth and Sixth Dynasties, including the pyramid of King Onas, the first to inscribe his burial chamber in the pyramid texts; kings and high officials of the First and Second Dynasties; and a huge collection of tombs of high officials of the Old Kingdom. It also includes tombs dating from the time of the First Transition, passing through the tombs of individuals from the Middle and New Kingdoms.
Also, you can explore the tomb of the sacred Apis calf (Sarabiyum) (optional), which continued to be used from the 18th Dynasty until the Ptolemaic period. The area is also home to Coptic monuments, such as the Monastery of St. Jeremiah. In April 2006, the Imhotep Museum was inaugurated in the area, which houses a collection of artifacts discovered at Saqqara and exhibits a model of the archaeological collection of Djoser, as well as designing one of its rooms in the form of a complete tomb in which a mummy, a wooden coffin, and various ceramic and alabaster vessels are displayed.
We next go on to the Pyramids of Giza, where you can tour the Great Pyramid and the Pyramid of Khafre, two of the biggest pyramids constructed in ancient Egypt that are now well-known representations of the country in the Western world. When the Greek poet Antipater the Sidonian named the Great Pyramid one of the Seven Wonders of the World, it gained particular notoriety throughout the Hellenistic period. Of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Great Pyramid is the oldest and the only one that remains intact.
Additionally, you will have the chance to see the Pyramid of Menkaure from the Pyramid of the King, a passageway, a funerary temple, and the Temple of the Valley. Several statues of King Menkaure were originally kept in the Valley Temple, and a smaller frontal temple was erected during the Fifth Dynasty. Several statues of Menkaure were also kept in the funeral temple. Three subpyramids known as the Pyramids of the Queens are part of the Pyramid of the King, which was finished in 2510 BC.
